Inspired Room

This room took my breath away when I first came across it...

I love so many features about this room. The high ceilings with the exposed beams, the dark rustic wood floors, and the archways make up the framework of the room. But the furniture and accessories are what really make it sing. Sofa and chairs with great lines in neutral fabrics mixed in with wood tables in unique shapes, a utilitarian metal trunk and wicker baskets accented with gorgeous oversized glass vases and pillows in graphic prints, ohhh la la...

Morning Gift

My husband received the most amazing birthday gift this morning right over our land. It was truly breathtaking. This magnificent rainbow stretched across the sky over my head as I sprinted across the land (in my pajamas) trying to get as far away as I could to capture the entire rainbow but alas, it wouldn't all fit in the photo.

How I wish I would have had a panoramic camera in that moment...

Nova Scotia Country House

Not only do I *heart* the gorgeous images of this Nova Scotia Country House shared by Mary and Bill Bell but I find their story very inspiring as well. In 1989, Mary and her husband purchased this run down property and transformed it with castaways and salvaged parts. The surrounding acreage has been planted for self sustainable living so the couple can pretty much live off the land. Their homestead is also open for tours and the guest cottage is used as a summer rental.

I long to do something similar on our property someday...

See more photos and read more about their story right here.

Cullen House in Book or Movie?

I did a post the other day on the Cullen house in the movie Twilight. This was before I had read the book and was surprised when I read the book (over the weekend) at the differences between the house used in the movie from the one described in the book. I am going to do a little comparison and then would love to get your opinion on which house you prefer.

Before I get to that I wanted to share some photos of the exterior of the Modern Countryside house in yesterday's post and also some exterior shots of the Hoke House (Cullen House in the movie Twilight). There are a lot of great similarities to the exterior features of these two homes.

The first three are of the Modern Countryside Home.

The next four are of the Hoke House from the movie.

The exterior of the Cullen house described in the book more resembles this house below. This is the Miller Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast and they advertise themselves as the "home of the Cullens".

Completely different style of architecture used for this home as opposed to the house that was featured in the movie. One traditional and the other very modern.

Which style of home would you prefer to have seen used in the movie?

ButterflyonSleeve

I want to introduce the beautiful photography of Claire Wachowiak. Her photos have been described as making ordinary objects extraordinary as she finds beauty in simple objects. I couldn't agree more...
